David Wirth began his theatrical career in Chicago as an original member of the legendary Godzilla Rainbow Troupe. He performed in the "Troupe's" first three productions, which took the "Troupe's" members to Paris for a run at The Palace Theatre and to the Festival Du Mondial IX in Nancy, France. Other Chicago area appearances include performances at: The St. Nicholas Theatre (Eugene O'Neil's BEYOND THE HORIZON dir. by David Mamet and the critically acclaimed ALL HONORABLE MEN dir. by Dennis Scott), The Wisdom Bridge Theatre (BENT dir. by Robert Falls), The Goodman Theatre, The 11th St. Theatre (LENNY dir. by Julian Barry), The Fox Trails Theatre (Tennessee Williams' SMALL CRAFT WARNINGS dir. by June Pyscacek), as well as with The Old Town Players ("Tybalt" in ROMEO AND JULIET).
After relocating to New York, David appeared in the original production of SHARING directed by Stuart Ross (THE PLAIDS). He directed the world premier of Charles Willeford's HIGH PRIEST OF CALIFORNIA, and performed featured roles in productions for The About Face Theatre Company, The American Line Theatre Company, The Phoenix Ensemble Theatre Company, and at The Theatre for the New City (THE HUNGER ARTIST dir. by John Vacarro).
Additionally, David and his wife, Jill Melanie Wirth, have created and performed a number of one-act "dramedies" which examine end-of-life issues, historical topics, and sexual matters. He and Jill also appeared together in The Man in the Moon Theatre's production of BORN BAD (London, UK).
Most recently David appeared as "Arkady Islayev" in The Morningside Players production of A MONTH IN THE COUNTRY by Brian Friel. Previously, David appeared with The Morningside Players as "Lord Godalming" in their production of THE PASSION OF DRACULA (featuring Brandon DeSpain as Count Dracula). Additionally, David originated the role of "Emery Kolb" in the world premier of Susan Arnout Smith's SEPARATION RAPID (featuring Kate Hamill and dir. by Bill lelbach) at The Chenango River Theatre in Greene, NY. Prior to that David performed the role of "Tim McCall" in Molly Moroney's KITHLESS IN PARADISE, which was presented Off-Broadway at The Lion Theatre on New York City's Theatre Row (dir. by Niki Flacks). Also, on Theatre Row, at The Clurman Theatre, David appeared as "Detective Harris" in Christopher G. Roberts' REFLECTIONS OF A HEART.
